Life Boat Davits
Destination
Boat Davit is an element of:
- life saving device
- rescue - life saving device
- rescue device
It services for transportation of the boat onboard of the ship, in cooperation with
adequate boat winch.
Rescue boat davits are destined for following actions:
- defection of the boat with permissible number of persons from stowage position outside
ship tilt to 20° on arbitrary ship side and trim to 10°.
- hoisting of the boat with 10 persons crew from the water to stowage position, when
the ship has no tilt and no trim.
Davits servicing for rescue - life saving boat and life boat are destined for following
actions:
- defection of the boat with permissible number of persons from stowage position outside
ship side, on ship tilt to 20° on arbitrary ship side and trim to 10°.
- hoisting of the boat with 10 persons (for R65-1 with 6 persons) from the water to
stowage position, when the ship has tilt to 20° on arbitrary ship side and trim
to 10°.

Structure description
The davit is equipped with a winch, ropes and remote control device, which gives
possibilities of winch control from the boat. The winch on davits item No 1-10
is installed on bow guide, and on davits item No 11-15 is installed as free-standing
near by stern guide. The boat entry is installed in davits item No 1-5 on the side
of ship side and in davits item No 6-15 on the side of boat stern.
Davits meet requirements of following rules:
- SOLAS-74 with 1997 amendments,
- Classification Societies Rules
Davits type ZZ-ZZŁJ are executed in two kinds:
- as free-standing
- as wall installed (without a column, and space beam - item No 5 and 4 on drawing)
- denoted with "S" mark
ZZ-ZŁJ2 davits - execution with freestanding winch.
Depending of davit locations on the ship there are two davits executions:
- on right ship side - denoted by a sign "P"
- on left ship side - denoted by a sign "L"
Depending of electrical supply there are davits:
- 3 x 380 V, 50 Hz - denoted by a number "35"
- 3 x 440 V, 60 Hz - denoted by a number "46"
Depending of applied winch there are davits:
- for life boat - winch denotation "E" mark
- for rescue boat
- and rescue life boat - winch denotation "ER" mark
An example of travelling type davit denotation, destined for:
- P65 rescue life boat service,
- installed on superstructure wall,
- right execution, winch supply 3 x 440 V; 60 Hz
